I love Fall.  Every September I fall back in love with the crips air and rustling of leaves. Today, I am officially declaring this Self-love September!

The most amazing gift breathwork has given me is the experience of deep self-love. I couldn’t be more thankful to all the teachers and people I’ve met in the last year who have taught me to truly love every little bit of myself, all my shadows and all my light. Believe it or not, I had a more difficult time loving my light than my shadows. I was using my shadows as a distraction from becoming my best self. I obsessed over everything that was wrong with me and what I thought I couldn’t do. The reality was that when I started practicing self-love it gave me access to my highest potential.

The most important message I can share with you today is to love yourself no matter what.  Because if we allow ourselves to practice self-love, we can release the need for external approval and awaken overflowing love that spreads to those around us. Accepting that we are perfect as we are, allows us to live within the comfort of our own hearts, all nice and cozy falling in love with life again.

5 Fundamental Steps to Cultivate Self-Love

1. Change your thoughts. Every time you say something negative about yourself, catch it and turn into something positive. Know that you are a beautiful being and you deserve to be treated like your very own hero or heroine.  How would you treat Oprah or Wayne Dyer if they were in your house? This is how you could be treating yourself every single day, don’t let the opportunity pass you by! Compliment yourself instead of beating yourself up. It’s the fastest way to self-love

2. Take time everyday to thank yourself and your body for getting you to where you are today. Every moment we continue to breathe and our hearts continue to beat is a miracle. When we acknowledge this miracle we fill ourselves up with light and love.

3. Forgive yourself for anything that comes up that you think you did wrong and know that you did the best you could for your state and awareness at that time. We all have shadows, it’s part of being human. When we learn to forgive ourselves for what we perceive as wrong we can begin to forgive others because holding blame for others will never serve us. Nelson Mandela said, “resentment is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.”

4. When you feel yourself getting stuck in your head, move your breath to your heart.  Literally breathe into your heart space and bring all your focus to your heart instead of your brain. Remain in that state until you feel yourself connecting to an authentic place.

5. Remain in the now. Breathing connects us to the present moment.  When we are not in the present we are using a past memory to create a desire for the future. Sitting Mediation or active meditation (like conscious breathwork) helps us to transcend and go beyond our thoughts to access a field of infinite possibility...like the possibility of abundant love for thyself!

Close your eyes, fall in love, stay there. Rumi

What does it mean to be Wildly Human?

It means being able to feel, see, hear, smell, taste, receive, give, love, create, and experience fully.

**

It means breathing deep into your lungs, connecting with your heart, and living to your fullest potential.

**

Being Wildly Human also means we get to experience suffering. It means when life tastes bitter we get to choose to say thank you and grow from it. And when life gives us sweetness we get to say thank you and celebrate.

Being wildly human means we get to choose how we live this life.  We get to choose how to treat others, how we treat our planet, how we share ourselves, and what thoughts we allow to shape our world.

It also means we CAN choose to clear out what is no longer serving us.  We CAN create new ways of being, new ways of life.  Just imagine how many ways of life exist and have already existed on this planet.  Our natural state IS to CREATE. Imagine all you have already created... experiences for your family, experiences for yourself and friends, beautiful meals, businesses, your living environment, vacations, houses, projects, gifts for others, service for others.

If we are always creating as our natural state, why not become more present and mindful with EVERY creation? Could we take a deep breath and listen to our hearts and souls before we make decisions? When we react? When we connect with others? Or when we consume or construct something new in our life?

If we can breathe deeply for a few minutes and make a conscious choice that aligns with our soul and what truly makes us fulfilled, then we get to be wildly human. Because being human is the gift. Living life on this planet is the gift. Embracing our wild, creative souls means giving ourselves the freedom to be who we are and reviving our passion for this beautiful bittersweet life.

What does it mean to reconnect with your soul?

It means taking the time to slow down, breathe, and listen to your heart.

It means embracing your light AND YOUR SHADOWS.

It means inspiring others with your AUTHENTICITY.

It means finding the spark that FUELS YOUR LIFE.

It means remembering that YOU ARE NOT BROKEN.

It means knowing that YOU ARE DIVINE.

These last few weeks I've been transitioning in my relationships. For years I have been slowly building up masks so that I could be someone else that people would like better, someone that would match society's version of a worthy female, an acceptable persona for my husband, my kids, my family, my friends. I am not sure when I started caring about how I was perceived or when I lost touch with my authentic self, but I do know that I am so grateful that my heart whispered..."it's time to come back.  We miss you."

I am now becoming an expression of my truest self, my beautiful soul. It's been a tearful, uncomfortable, sometimes fearful but always enlightening journey. In breaking those shells and truly connecting with my soul every single day I have found true happiness.  It is in this soul connection that I find comfort, inspiration, and love. I no longer have to look elsewhere for it. It's right here waiting for me anytime, anywhere. It never leaves. All I have to do is remember.

This is why I choose to share breathwork with you.  Because I hope every time that you breathe, you reconnect with your soul and you remember the joy that is possible in every moment. I hope that you spark a new transformation within yourself, that you continue to grow and expand, that you find compassion for yourself and others and share that compassion and spark with the world.
